science squad

FIRST at Nationals! The Lanikai Science Squad that includes Lily, Jasmine, and Heather from Kailua Intermediate accepted a Mission Challenge and, after taking first in state and regional competitions, WON the 2016-2017 eCYBERMISSION national contest for their grade, 7th. Parent, Ms. Kathy Dinman served as their coach. In this event, sponsored by the National Science Teachers Association and the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program, the team was required to research a problem, write a hypothesis, and conduct experiments. Congratulations!

National History Day

Heather and Larissa pose at National History Day's Parade of States at the University of Maryland, College Park. As one of two top finalists in their categories in the Hawaii state competition, they were invited to compete along with nearly 3,000 other students from across the nation. Next year's theme is Conflict & Compromise in History.
